"Helping people HEAR in West
Texas since 1984"

Hearing West Texas is a qualified Texas Medicaid Provider and works directly with Texas Medicaid to provide hearing aids for qualified patients. This is our primary service whereas other companies usually allocate only a small percentage of their time for Medicaid patients. We are specialists in providing Medicaid hearing instruments to deserving individuals, and we work, primarily, with senior living facilities. Hearing West Texas staff is vigilant to monitor all changes, additions, and deletions to Medicaid hearing aid benefits.

In addition to Medicaid patients, we will gladly help those who are "private pay" or have personal insurance. Hearing West Texas is a Network Dispensing Partner with Sonus, the largest provider of hearing aids in the world.

Josh Villaseņor and the Villaseņor/Wallis family have been caring for the needs of the hearing impaired in Texas for over 28 years. In addition to holding a License to Fit and Dispense Hearing Instruments by the State of Texas Health Department since 1984, Josh is a Certified Audioprosthologist and Nationally Board Certified in Hearing Instrument Sciences.

Hearing Aids for Texas Medicaid Recipients

Many people don't know that the Texas Medicaid program will provide a hearing aid or two hearing aids for qualified recipients. Some people have heard about the program but are unable to find hearing aid professional that is participating in the program. If you or someone you know qualifies for Medicaid, lives in West Texas, and needs a hearing aid, Hearing West Texas can help. We are Texas Medicaid hearing aid providers.

Prerequisites to qualifying for a hearing aid or hearing aids paid for by Medicaid in Texas:

  1. You must be 21 years old or older. Those younger than 21 years old go through a different program. (PACT)
  2. You must be examined by a physician and receive a Physician's Examination Report (known as a B.41) If you need a copy of this form to take to your physician, you may get one from our Forms Page, or you may contact us directly.
  3. The Physician's Examination Report is your "referral" to get a hearing evaluation. Only a person qualified under the Texas Medicaid Rules should do the hearing. Contact Hearing West Texas to help you locate someone in your area to arrange for a hearing evaluation.
  4. If the hearing evaluation shows that your hearing loss is great enough, the participating hearing healthcare professional can submit a claim to the Texas Medicaid Department for a hearing aid.
  5. The physician's examination and the hearing test should show that you have a medical necessity for a hearing instrument and that there are no medical reasons to prevent you from wearing one. You do not have to determine this yourself. The physician and the hearing evaluation will determine this and will be part of the claim submitted to Medicaid.
  6. As of December 2008, Medicaid will pay for one or two hearing aids every five years for qualified individuals.
  7. Other rules or restrictions may apply. It is important to work with someone who is familiar with the Texas Medicaid Rules, as they will be better able to help you get a hearing aid by submitting the claim properly.
